KOREIS FIELD NOTE
Architecture is useful when it changes a decision
The diagram is not the outcome.
Enterprise architecture becomes valuable when it gives leaders a clearer view of capabilities, dependencies, duplication, risk and the consequences of different investment choices.
If architecture produces artefacts that nobody uses to make a decision, its value becomes difficult to defend regardless of how technically correct the models are.
The practical test is simple: did the architecture help someone make a better choice about what to change, what to fund, what to stop or what to sequence differently?
The question we prefer to ask
What problem are we actually trying to solve, and what would become better if we solved it?
